The first Travel Information Hub, as part of The Bridgwater Way project, took place on Saturday 11th May in North Petherton. Over 60 people visited the stand to find out more about local walking and cycling routes and to sign up to activity sessions such as: Dr Bike and Bike maintenance sessions, cycle confidence, street audits and led walks and rides.
The project aimed to get more people out of their cars and travelling actively for local journeys. As part of the event ten bicycles were security marked and will be added to the national BikeRegister database, which will both act as a deterrent to bike thieves as well as help reunite people with their stolen bikes if they are recovered. This is the first of several activities and events that will be taking place in North Petherton, Wilstock and Stockmoor between now and September. If you would like to sign up to receive information about upcoming events and activities then please email TBW@sustrans.org.uk.
Walking and cycling for local journeys not only saves you money and helps keep you fit and healthy, but can also be a quicker and more reliable way to travel. Not to mention the numerous environmental benefits. To find out more visit www.thebridgwaterway.co.uk
