Workplace Challenge Champion

08 July 2019

Congratulations to our overall Workplace Challenge Champion Jay C who participated as part of the Bridgwater & Taunton College team.

Jay completed the most amount of activities during the challenge. His prize was £100 worth of BetterPoints and £100 to donate to a charity of his choice. Jay has nominated Cancer Research UK to receive the charity prize. We recently spoke to Jay about winning the top prize and how the challenge has helped him be more active:

"When I found out about BetterPoints I thought the concept of encouraging people to be more active was a great idea.

I cycle when I can, including using my bike to go shopping. I also have a 13-month-old puppy called Flo, and she keeps me active too.

We also asked Jay: has BetterPoints inspired you to be more physically active?

Yes, certainly during the workplace challenge I was always out on the bike running errands, shopping etc. I only ever drive when I really have to, I much prefer the cost and health benefits of being on a bike. It is very encouraging seeing the points balance increasing day by day and seeing who won prizes on a Monday!

Finally, we wanted to find out about the impact on any other friends or family members:

My wife has used the BetterPoints app too to track more regular activity. It would be great to see more challenges around the country, my mother lives in West Sussex and would love to take part if there was a challenge near her.

I am really pleased that I have won the challenge, it is so good to see that so many people took part across Bridgwater, hopefully we have all helped reduce traffic and carbon in our area and have spread the word about sustainable travel, looking forward to the next challenge."

Congratulations to Jay for being our Overall Challenge Champion for The Bridgwater Way rewards programme.

Well done to everyone that took part, the challenge ran from 13th May to 21st June. Every week there were nearly £300 worth of prizes up for grabs for tracking walking, running and cycling activities.

The Bridgwater Way rewards will continue into 2019, so keep an eye on the BetterPoints app timeline for news of more events and challenges coming up!
